Job opportunity: Female nurse (full-time)

In line with its current Strategic Plan, Prévention Information & Lutte contre le Sida (PILS) is recruiting two full–time female nurses for provision of community sexual and reproductive health services at its drop-in center.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FEMALE NURSES (FULL–TIME)
Reports to: Community Health Services Manager via the Medical Coordinator
Roles and Responsibilities of Registered Nurse
Assist clinicians in delivery of Primary, Emergency, Acute and Chronic care services and assist in referral to mainstream care – as needed
Specific tasks include the following:
- Assessing, observing, and speaking to patients
- Recording details and symptoms of patient medical history and current health
- Preparing patients for exams and treatment
- Administering medications and treatments, then monitoring patients for side effects
- Creating, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans with the medical team
- Performing wound care such as cleaning and bandaging
- Assisting in medical procedures as needed
- Operating and monitoring medical equipment
- Drawing blood, urine samples, and other body fluids for laboratory work
- Follow up to ensure the timely availability of test results
- Educating patients and family members on treatment and care plans, as well as answering their questions
Specific Roles and Responsibilities of Registered Nurse – PrEP Project
The Registered Nurse shall assist the team of doctors in carrying out the following:
- Smooth organization of PrEP services
- Delivery of clinical services according to PrEP protocol and guidelines
- Delivery of Community Sexual and Reproductive Health (CSRH) Services including screening, diagnosis, treatment of sexually transmitted infections including sexual risk-reduction and counselling services
- Development of tools that support best practices in PrEP care
- Identification and reduction of barriers to obtaining PrEP care
- Being a force de proposition in improving the circuit PrEP
- Development of materials promoting PrEP resources and services
Management roles and responsibilities of Registered Nurse
- Management and maintenance of patient medical records
- Elaboration of patient-centered follow-up plan
- Provide service linkage to address other psychosocial needs as appropriate
- Assist the team with individualized risk-reduction counseling and support as well as adherence strategies for targeted outreach interventions to optimize follow-up
- Conduct home visits when required and participate in any mobile services of PILS
- Train others – as required – on accredited testing
- Address phone queries of patients of PILS when required
- Provide therapeutic education and participate in support groups
- Participate in outreach activities when needed and collaborate with peer educators and all sub-teams of PILS drop-in center
- Provide targeted outreach activities with at-risk communities.
- Work with the existing team to revamp existing Standard of Procedures for nursing services
- Record all interventions carried out
- Help the current infirmary services with stock management
- Assist the management team in developing strategies that align with the health aspects of other programs of PILS
- Deliver health related training when needed and support the capacity building teams
- Maintain a good working relationship with partners of PILS and represent the organization where required and attend meetings
- Conduct data entry as needed and provide a bi-monthly activity report
- Act as chaperone to beneficiaries as needed
- Any other cognate duties as assigned by the doctor/Community Health Services Manager/PreP Project Coordinator
Essential requirements
- Registered nurse in accordance with Mauritian law
- Experience in working with HIV and sexually transmitted diseases
- Sound knowledge on Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Able to work at odd hours including weekends
Desirable
- Valid driving license
